Cori turned, drawing her rapier, 'Well come ON then! Don't make me come over there to hurt you!' Lady Corinna Hawkwier is a young noble lady of Ravenia and a duelist. She is yet another in a long line of character studies in ink, Prismacolor & computer.

Updated July of 2004, cleaned up the background and subject.

This is my favorite of yours. Her breasts don't seem crooked, her shoulders are canted at an angle, the breasts follow the way they should. Nice sword and nice costume. The texture of the shirt makes me wonder if it's meant to suggest a fine chainmail of some sort? That would make sense, though it looks as if this must be a place where armor is not in use all that much. (That sort of critique makes more sense on a battle field than in a city where conflicts are more likely to be duels and the like.) There are two anatomical details I noticed, she is very thin, especially at the waist and her eyes are quite large. If these are flaws though, they are attractive ones. I especially like the boots and gloves, and the rapier. I have that book too and think you did a nice job capturing it.

:-) Andrew P. Morris replies: "Thanks, the Ravenia game is a lighter armor game. We are living in a fantastic city. manuverabillity and panach are more important to staying alive than armor is..."

I dont think her breasts are crooked her shoulders are at an angle

:-) Andrew P. Morris replies: "Thanks for commenting. The angled shoulders affecting the rest of her torso is what I was trying for. I am glad it works! "

very very sexy! she's beautiful. I love the way you did her neck! also dig the clothing! 2 exellent work!

:-) Andrew P. Morris replies: "Thanks for commenting on my work! I am glad you like the effect of the sexy clothing and attitude. Cory is very skilled at using her panache and attitude to great affect. Cheers, Andrew"

Nice pic. However this comment is for an earlier comment mentioning Achille Marozzo. Marozzo did not teach epee (the modern French dueling weapon) but taught the use of the spada da filo or edge-sword. It was a cutting weapon similar to the weapons used in the military during the time in question. Also, his manual was first published in 1536 and came under two titles : Arte dell'Armi and Opera Nova. As I'm translating the manual from the original Italian, I know a bit about it. See http://jan.ucc.nau.edu/~wew/fencing for more information on actual historically accurate sdwordplay.

Ciao!

:-) Andrew P. Morris replies: "Thanks for commenting and for the link. I am not a historian nor really that much of a fencer, so I go about it from the perspective of Fantasy Role Playing and artwork, thus my references are public library and what I get off the shelf at Waldenbooks. ;-) "

I really enjoyed this pic. I read the comment from the other fencer and have to agree on the points made. I for number one would not wear anything like that in my life into a match ever. I am also into D&D big time and she looks a lot like one of the people I made and used. From that point of view I think she is great. The one thing I dislike just a little and its not that important is the way she leans seems a little extreme but then again it could be just me and seeing some thing that is not there. Now on a second thought it could be because she is thin, and then it would work a little better. I would just like to let you know this is my favorite of your work because I can picture her move and things she might say.

:-) Andrew P. Morris replies: "Sadah, Thanks for the kind comments. I must agree with you, what I would wear or what I would do and what one of my fantasy characters or those in my drawings would do is quite different. However, if something I draw sparks a little imagination then I am happy. Take care, Andrew. "

kinda looks like a skinny Claire Danes

:-) Andrew P. Morris replies: "You know, filmbuff is right... I wish I could say that I had used her as a photo-ref... "

She wouldn't want to hurt me because I won't get her angry by insulting her. She;s beautiful!
