We rounded the North side of Firecliff Island just after sun down. Turning southward we tacked across the mouths of the small bays littering the western side of the Island, all cannons primed and ready. Stassia's avian spies told her the Slippery Jack was anchored and at rest about mid-way down. Silanthe called up a mist that was running before the ship, pushed along by Ranalph's sorcerously summoned winds. When we rounded a rocky outcrop our target was nicely presented at anchor in the small deep bay. 'Fire!' I shouted, drawing my rapier and pointing at the Slippery Jack. Within moments the Rapier's cannons roared and her decks shook with the power of a ten cannon salvo. ~Excerpt from the logs of Arlette De Avanell, Captain of the Rapier.

This picture is a real departure for me (subject-wise), it not being a person. This is the Rapier as she salvos at an enemy. The prospect of warfare in a wooden ship is terrifying; surprise is an element that means everything. Made from a quick sketch and completely finished / colored on the Computer.

I always liked pirate ship battles when I was a kid. This is amazing!

:-) Andrew P. Morris replies: "Thank-you for commenting. I have always liked pirates and privateers but prior to this attempt have never had success with depicting a ship! I hope to have the time to bring more scenes from the gaming table in the future. Take care, ~AM"
