Update August 2005 - Mainly just updates to older pics but also some changes in the descriptions.
Update June 2004 Added several new pics including my first attempts at full computer colorization.
I draw mainly to illustrate RPG characters (from D&D and 7th Sea). I work largely for my own and my friends' entertainment, inspired by the works of Jim Fitzpatrick, Frank Frazetta, Boris, Linsner, Drew Hays, Brom, and all the usual suspects. My style is highly influenced by Burne Hogarth, and his two marvelous books: 'Drawing the Dynamic Figure', and 'Drawing the Human Head'. My medium is usually some kind of paper, a penciled sketch that is than inked with Rapidograph pens, colored with Prismacolors, scanned and re-touched on the PC using iPhoto Plus (4). Though that has changed and most of my work is done from scanned quick sketches that are then colored and finished on the computer. I always try to note where I use a model or photo reference and what the source was. I hope you enjoy, and feel free to comment as much as you like, I try to answer every comment I get and like constructive criticism.

| 5 Jan 2006 | Feanarorin christs_re | Loading...Hi there, Just finished taking your Bardic tour and found it most intersting (love the Orc and Elf pic). However I was a little disappointed to see my favourite bard left out. I will admit (as my sn indicates) that I am a rabid JRR Tolkien fan, especially of The Silmarillion. In the Silm there is an /awesome/ bard named Maglor, second son of Feanro Curufinwe. His mother-name is Malakaure...okay I'll spare you the rest. But he is the greatest bard in Middle Earth and there are two or three fascinating pix of him up on Elfwood. Right now I don't have the links on me but I can most certainly provide them if you are interested in adding Maglor to your tour. But aside from that little detail, nice tour! Very detailed with a good variety of styles. I think I've looked at enough harps and lutes so that when I try again to draw Maglor I will have a good idea on how to draw a decent harp...those bloody things are harder to do than they look... Feanarorin (which means Rememberance of Feanaro in Quenya...okay I am /stopping/ now. sorry!) Andrew P. Morris replies: "I will be updating the Bards Tour soon, I will let you now which of the Maglor Pictures you pointed out to me I will include. Thanks again for your kind comments. " | |
| 13 Jan 2006 | A. B. Morrison clandah@hot...com> | Loading...You do really good work with poses - they all show the personalities of the characters so well! Andrew P. Morris replies: "Thanks for all your kind comments on my art work. I always wish to portray more than just the appearance of the character. Some of these characters have such depth (due to the work and crafting of their players and the world we have created) that I can only hope to bring a little of that out in the pictures I create of them. That I manage even that much makes me glad." | |
